It can go slightly faster and reach slightly further, and has
diagnostics and power management, and rate adaptation just like old
analogue modems.

It seems more like ADSL 1.1 to me though!

Meanwhile, ADSL 2+ can double the downstream bandwidth to a maximum
of 25MBps (that's Mbit/sec), which is nice, and also double the
upstream bandwidth.

Service providers will need to install new DSLAMs before there's any
point buying an ADSL2 modem.

It's still not Ethernet speeds though. I hear in Hong Kong they get
100MBps to the home. Oh yes!
