Cheers Daren,

I found this on the net:

Personal Message Store (PST) Export Utility 1.0

Stephen Genusa (steve at genusa.com)

What PMSEU Does

PMSEU was designed to export Internet messages out of Outlook while preserving the Internet headers
during export. One of our company folders had nearly 30,000 messages in it. Try doing a text search
across a folder that large! Why not use Outlook's Export feature? Outlook's "export" function strips all the
useful Internet message header information as well, making their export (thank you Microsoft Marketing
Dept.) worthless for our needs. Using PMSEU, what we've done is to export all our message data into
another software package that indexes the text providing "instant" search features.

Includes VB source..

------- Forwarded message follows -------
Try using Outlook (not Express) to open the PST file, then send groups of
the messages as attachments to the IMAP account, then open in an IMAP client
(Outlook Express is IMAP compliant) and drag'n'drop all the attachments into
your Inbox. The messages should appear as they originally did.

I had this working with a client's Hotmail account, sending messages from
the Hotmail folders and drag'n'dropping them into the Outlook Express Inbox.

Don't know if this will work for Unix, maybe OE will convert the messages
for you, but it might work.

Hope this helps,
Daren

HI folks,

Ian <[email protected]> asks the following. Do we have any suggestions?

Stuart

---

A quick question (may be one for the adminz list): I have literally
thousands of e-mails, mostly from the MySQL & W3C mailing lists I
subscribe to, sitting in MS Office PST files. Being a fan of IMAP, I'd
like to migrate them from there PST dungeon to their new home on my
linux box. I believe I need to restore the messages to their original
mail (RFC822?) format. I know I could forward them to myself once I've
configured sendmail but it would be interesting to know of any methods
for recovering mail from PSTs.

Cheers,

Ian.
