subject: pegasus mail spam filter

hi folks,

well, apologies for delay, i have been busy building a bulk emailer..
ehhe.. but.. whilst on the subject.. i have discovered a way to get
Pegasus Mail to filter some of my spam into a folder.

A lot of spam has no "To: " line.

To get Pegasus to move all messages *without* anything in the to:
field, you must define the rule using a regular expression, not a
standard header match. To do this, create the new mail filtering
rule as usual (Tools.. Mail filtering rules.. Edit mail filtering rules..
Rules applied when folder is opened.. Add Rule), however in the
Edit Rule dialog box which appears when you click Add Rule,
select 'regular expression match' instead of 'standard header
match'.

The dialog box will then change; enter in the regular expression
field the following regular expression, exactly as shown:

To: ?*

The uppercase T, lowercase O, colon, space, question mark and
star are all vital. :)

Ensure that 'appears in the message's headers only' is selected,
then pick a folder, click OK, and click Save.

You could simply delete them all, but you never know, you may
want to read one someday. Don't forget to check the folder
periodically. ;)

in development: a no-nonsense message viewer that will let you flip
through your spam folder in a trice.

I can report that the conversion from Outlook to Pegasus I did
recently has proved worthwhile (it really is a superior program, even
with all its funny little bugs) .. and the users concerned are not
even hinting that they wished they were back with ole M$.

I haven't managed to replace Access yet. :|
