I don't claim to know what is happening on this guy's planet. He
MAY be on the same planet as us. But he stumbled upon Echelon
from the business end, not from the underground, which is where
we learned of it. Which makes him riveting reading. Indeed I am of
the belief that this person will be a lot of fun when we go after the
SPIN-2 imagery. He's also looking for work, hence his reference to
his experience.
But my translation of his writing is that covert electronic
surveillance has been used for economic benefit to the USA for a
long time, indeed the process has been facilitated by the
Government of the USA, in order to achieve the goals of the
national security policy of that country.
Which is hardly surprising, when the NSA's website says that its
goal in life to to "ensure information superiority for America".
So to do this, they require their own corporations to follow rules eg.
Denied Parties List (list of individuals or companies that are not
permitted to buy products from corporations registered to do
business in the USA). Selling certain products to those on the
DPL is a breach of corporations law and will result in severe
penalties against the corporation and possibly revocation of their
business license....
companies do not want to be barred from the USA, even if they are
multinational... so for example Compaq, which inherited several
protected technologies from DEC (including "hardened" in-the-field
tactical encryption devices -- spoken of in US Army's 21C defense
strategy) ..... is not permitted to sell that device to the Taliban.
Even if the Afghanistani office of Compaq wanted to do the deal --
not permitted by USA law.
OK, what about crypto rules, a revised set came out last month
and they still suck. You have to be a bank, healthcare provider,
insurer or online merchant to qualify for the "strong" 128-bit server
certificates. If you are a foreign government, such as the Western
Australian Government, and you have an e-commerce site, such as
http://www2.dme.wa.gov.au/ebookshop/, you are NOT ENTITLED
to strong encryption. I am in receipt of a legal opinion from "the
lawyer in Washington" which states this. You must put up with 40-
bit SSL that can be "cracked in a few hours", according to
Verisign. Verisign recommend the 128-bit certificates, because
they will take "a trillion trillion years" to crack (with current tech).
Net effect, our customers' credit card numbers are "protected" by
weak encryption. Enough to satisfy due diligence but not enough
to prevent "a determined hacker" such as the National Security
Agency from having a peek. Do you think it is a coincidence that
foreign governments do not qualify for strong encryption
certificates? Could it be they might want to know which mineral
exploration companies are buying what datasets? Never...
I find this ability of the USA to subvert the behaviour of other
countries an affront to democracy and a fundamental breach of
human rights.... I also find it consistent with the USA's behaviour in
the past.... and conclude there is a war going on... the disputed
territory is our freedom.
DPL is one front, crypto rules another, Echelon another, drug-
dealing by the CIA another.
These are all real and acknowledged by governments. Period.
Then we can start on the conspiracy stuff. No, we haven't got there
yet... UFOs, Noahs Ark etc.. these are conspiracies. The rest are
unfortunately a fact of life.
Of course, we know we can depend on "them" to protect us --
that's why the RSA website can't be hacked, right??? Ooops, it
was hacked. Hmm

Security Strategy of the USA is based very heavily on the
economic security
and the implementation of the intelligence strategy in which a key

of the whole global intelligence cycle is electronic business
intelligence.
There are companies that are focussing purely on the collection and

intelligence). There are systems in place to be implemented in the

also called the system of systems - actually I have also the model
of
intelligence islands to describe their arrangements. So whatever
you know
now about the Internet and its intelligence acquisition methods and
techniques, these have been known for years by specific security
and
intelligence groups working for certain multinational corporations
before
these matters ever became the public knowledge. Actually, one of
my key
objectives in 1999 was also to influence European parliamentary
and other
members to improve the information security in Europe and protect
European
business intelligence. Since March and April, 1999 I have
communicated with
many European governmental people. My email address that was

Leadership Institute. Got the picture. The objective is to eliminate
the
leadership of the USA's economic and business intelligence
collection and
